📍 Norte de Santander, Colombia – A Satena Airlines flight crashed on January 28, 2026, near Colombia’s border with Venezuela, killing all 15 people on board, including passengers and crew.

The aircraft, a Beechcraft 1900 twin-propeller plane, departed from Cúcuta and was en route to Ocaña when it lost contact with air traffic control shortly before landing. Rescue teams later confirmed that there were no survivors.

Among the victims were Diógenes Quintero, a member of Colombia’s House of Representatives, and Carlos Salcedo, a congressional candidate, traveling with their teams. Local authorities and the airline expressed condolences and promised a full investigation.

The crash occurred in a mountainous region with unpredictable weather, further complicated by the presence of armed groups in the area. Officials are working to determine the cause of the accident.

“We have received with concern the information about the air accident where my colleague Diógenes Quintero, Carlos Salcedo, and their teams were traveling,” said Wilmer Carrillo, a local parliamentarian.
